他人に興味をもたず、いつもひとりで本を読んでいる高校生の「僕」。

そんな「僕」はある日、偶然『共病文庫』と記された一冊の文庫本を拾う。

それは、天真爛漫なクラスの人気者・山内桜良が密かに綴っていた日記帳だった。

そこには、彼女が膵臓の病気で、余命いくばくもないことが記されていて……。

病気を隠して日常を過ごす桜良と、その秘密を知った「僕」。

This deeply moving first-person story is about a high school boy who finds the diary of his classmate—and discovers that she's dying. Sakura Yamauchi has been silently suffering from a pancreatic disease in school, and now exactly one person outside her family knows. He swears to her that he won't tell anyone what he learned, and the shared secret brings them closer together. The two have very little in common, but they find themselves drawn to each other in Sakura's final months to live.
